Seapoint U-16s continue their winning ways

Seapoint U-16 75
Dundalk U-16 22
Seapoint U-16 cruised to a very comfortable victory over the counterparts from Dundalk on Sunday. Dundalk won the toss and opted to kick. John Ascough the Seapoint captain opted to play into a stiff breeze in the first half. Dundalk started brightly, retaining the ball for most of the first 5 minutes and attacking the Seapoint goal line. However once Seapoint managed to get their hands on the ball they spread it wide and immediately began to create scoring opportunities. Seapoint played almost flawless rugby for the first 20 minutes and scored 4 tries without answer. Playing with width, fast recycled ball created multiple opportunities to score.
Dundalk scored a try which they converted just before half time and another try immediately after the restart and looked to be mounting a fightback. However two more tries in quick succession put an end to the game as a contest. In total Seapoint scored 11 tries. Dundalk never gave up and managed to score another two tries before the game was over.
Stephen Manning had a very impressive 10 kicks out of 10, a 100% success rate with all of his conversions. David O'Dowd had a very impressive game at 10 easily deserving man of the match. Adam Wilson was safe and sure at 15 and all the backs played well. Thomas O'Shea was impressive and put in a big shift both in attack and defence. The forwards also played well, set piece was solid and rucking in particular in the first half was top class. The backrow of Ascough, Walsh and Agatowski worked well as a unit throughout the game, and the front five were impressive both the first half unit and the second half unit when they came on.
Next competitive match is 3 weeks away Sunday November 12 when we host Boyne.
